I want to kiss this Ferber man. I think Andy does, too.

4 Apr

After an unbelievably good night of sleep, everything has gone swimmingly today. He took his usual morning nap around 10 AM and after about 20-30 seconds of crying, fell right to sleep. He then slept solidly until 11:15. Usually his morning naps are only 30-45 minutes in length so this longer nap was quite nice. He was awake and happy as all get out until 2 PM. He fell asleep on Andy (again, no pacifier) and after about 30 minutes Andy put him in his bed. Another minute or so of crying and back to sleep for him. He awoke once during that nap and Andy reported he cried for about 5 minutes before falling back asleep. I was taking a nap myself during this time (YAY). Considering that his long afternoon nap usually has at least 4 or 5 awakenings for binky replacements, one wake up is a significant improvement.

We just put him down for the night and there was no crying at all! He sort of wiggled around in his crib for about 2 or 3 minutes and went right to sleep. We switched his feeding schedule to really load him up about 45 minutes before we put him down in the hopes that he’ll just sleep through until at least 6 AM. We’ll see what happens.

I realize at some point this could still turn ugly but I can’t help but think if it was going to it already would have.

Can’t help but think why didn’t you try this Ferber method the week before we got there.
